In Texas, nearly 4 million residents — 12% of the state's population — rely on essential tax credits to make comprehensive health insurance more affordable. Whether small business owners, entrepreneurs, blue-collar workers, farmers or early retirees, these hard-working Americans often purchase insurance independently because they do not have access to employer-sponsored coverage.
But these tax credits are at risk, as they will expire at the end of 2025 barring congressional action. Without these credits, health care premiums will skyrocket, leaving millions of Americans unable to afford coverage. The economic ramifications would be significant, as health providers will face billions in uncompensated care and lost revenue while citizens grapple with the fallout of having health needs go unmet.
On April 17, we hosted a pivotal discussion on the future of health care tax credits. In this webinar, experts from across the healthcare spectrum came together to explore the far-reaching impact of this issue. Our panel discussed the potential consequences of the expiration of these credits and why urgent legislative action is necessary to permanently extend these essential healthcare tax credits.
