Canceled — You're Hired! Untold Successes and Failures of a Populist President

DUE TO PUBLIC HEALTH ISSUES INVOLVING THE CORONAVIRUS, THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED.

In an age of mounting deficits and debt, changing demographics and rapid technological change, an open and transparent conversation on market and non-market policy responses is critical. To that end, Casey Mulligan, the former chief economist of the White House Council of Advisers, will discuss his newest book, “You're Hired! Untold Successes and Failures of a Populist President.” The book chronicles Mulligan’s experiences in the White House, and how President Trump responded to economic challenges and the demands imposed by issues including Obamacare, the opioid epidemic, tariffs and foreign policy. Mulligan also highlights the dichotomy between Trump and his supporters on one side and Washington insiders accustomed to running and reporting on the federal government on the other. Given the uncertainty about the economic challenges facing the United States and the world, Mulligan’s look at the successes and failures of both sides, and the lessons we can draw, is timely and important.
