The Baker Institute McNair Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation and the Texas Lyceum co-hosted a conference at the institute as part of the Texas Lyceum’s three-day meeting in Houston. It explored some of the state’s specific economic engines and also looked more broadly at the key factors that impact the process by which innovation is put into motion, transforming communities, industries and the way people live. These factors include: the policy tensions of change, the impact of technology or information gaps on implementing innovation, resource constraints that impact innovation and how human capital fits into the innovation equation. The conference provided an overall look at the opportunities and challenges related to innovation, as well as facilitated discussions among industry leaders on the changes occurring in their segments, what adapting to them entails, and the primary constraints related to those changes from a policy and resource perspective.

Baker Institute Roundtable members and Roundtable Young Professionals were invited to attend this member-exclusive event free of charge, and also received complimentary admission to the afternoon session that was held at Houston Methodist Hospital. Roundtable and RYP members also had the option to register for Thursday and Friday evening receptions and Fireside Chat dinners, which were $100 per person.
