In 2014, as part of the Affordable Care Act (ACA, or Obamacare), the Obama administration unveiled healthcare.gov, a marketplace that facilitates the sale of private health insurance plans and offers subsidized options to low-income Americans. Obamacare also expanded the Medicaid program in most states and led to dramatic changes in reimbursement policies for health care providers treating Medicare patients. Republicans, Democrats and health care experts all want modifications to the law, but they strongly disagree on what changes should be made. On May 4, the House of Representatives approved the American Health Care Act (AHCA), but most senators either oppose the bill or want substantial modifications. At this event, Vivian Ho, director of the Baker Institute Center for Health and Biosciences, discussed the current status of the U.S. health care system and considered the Obamacare reforms that could change if the current version of the AHCA becomes law.

The cost of attendance for the general public was $50. Health Policy Forum and Roundtable members received complimentary admission with the promotional code included in their invitation. Lunch was provided.
