Stephen Heidari-Robinson is the advisor on energy and the environment to the prime minister of the United Kingdom. In this role, he covers issues such as electricity generation strategy, climate change, air quality, floods, the North Sea and shale gas. Prior to his appointment, Heidari-Robinson served as a vice president of Schlumberger in the United Kingdom and as an associate partner at McKinsey & Company, working in Saudi Arabia, India, the North Sea and Azerbaijan. His 10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry includes strategy, exploration, capital projects, operational improvement, organizational change and local content. Heidari-Robinson also has worked as a civil servant in the UK’s Ministry of Defence, as a financial analyst in private equity, and as the head of corporate relations at a charity promoting Asia in the UK. In addition, he is the co-author of a forthcoming Harvard Business Review book on reorganizing companies. He holds master’s degrees in history and architecture from the University of Oxford and studied the Persian language at the University of London School of Oriental and African Studies.
