Charif Souki, co-founder of Tellurian and former CEO of Cheniere Energy Inc., visited the institute to discuss the implications of growing U.S. natural gas exports. This event was co-hosted by the Baker Institute Center for Energy Studies and Rice University's Association of International Petroleum Negotiators Student Club.

Charif Souki co-founded Tellurian in February 2016. Previously, he founded Cheniere Energy Inc. and served as chairman, CEO and president until December 2015. Before founding Cheniere, he had over 20 years of independent investment banking experience in the energy industry, specializing in financing for small capitalization companies. Souki currently serves on the American University of Beirut Board of Trustees, the Advisory Board of the Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia University, and the International Advisory Board for the Neurological Research Institute at Texas Children's Hospital. He received a B.A. from Colgate University and an MBA from Columbia University.
