What are the environmental impacts of metals used in energy applications? And what challenges might the use of such metals pose as society transitions to a clean energy future? At this webinar, Michelle Michot Foss, fellow in energy and minerals, and Rachel Meidl, fellow in energy and environment, discussed the dynamics of non-fuel minerals associated with the energy transition. They focused on supply-chain environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations and end-of-life risk management for metals, including recycling and disposal. They also considered how the outcome of the upcoming presidential election could impact policy and regulatory dynamics in this field.

This webinar followed a private roundtable discussion for energy forum members featuring Bob Brackett of Bernstein Research and Tristan Abbey, president of Comarus Analytics. For information about membership, please visit https://bit.ly/33Fa21t.

This event, sponsored by the Center for Energy Studies, is part of the Baker Institute 2020 Election Series, which highlights critical policy issues ahead of the 2020 presidential election. This webinar series features institute fellows, scholars and guests discussing a range of critical domestic and foreign policy issues in the lead up to November 3.
