The Institute for Regional Development in the School of Government and Public Transformation at the Tecnológico de Monterrey, along with the Baker Institute's Center for Energy Studies and Mexico Center, held a March 10 forum in Monterrey, Mexico, on “North American Energy: Transboundary Markets in Local and Cross-Border Policy in Northeastern Mexico and Texas.”
Participants examined current energy trends in North America, as well as the impact of technology, economics and public policy on the transborder region and on binational cooperation between key actors in the energy sector. Forum panelists also discussed the use of economies of scale, the regulation of environmental negative externalities, the correct administration of unexpected price fluctuations, the development of renewable energy sources, and the assignation of resources in the petroleum and electricity industries.
