The Claudio X. González Center for the United States and Mexico at Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy presents “The State of Negotiations of the USMCA.” As the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) approaches its scheduled joint review — due on July 1, 2026 — this webinar brings together experts to assess the status of the review, identify potential changes in negotiations, and determine whether a consensus will be reached. The decisions among Washington, D.C., Mexico City, and Ottawa on the future of the USMCA will have an impact on economic integration and trade flows, not just in North America, but the entire world.
This webinar will feature a panel discussion to analyze the current status of these negotiations and the outlook for this trade agreement. Potential changes to the agreement will be examined, such as in the auto industry, as well as areas for improvement, with the aim of making the region more competitive.
