The Baker Institute Drug Policy Program partnered with World of HA Productions and Twin Seas Media to host a public screening of a new documentary about addiction. “Our American Family,” directed by Hallee Adelman, offers an honest, unfiltered look at a close-knit Philadelphia family grappling with the legacy of generational addiction. Critics have called the film “heartbreaking, unflinching and inspirational; a poignant cautionary tale and powerful wake-up call.”
Following the showing, Katharine Neill Harris, the Alfred C. Glassell, III, Fellow in Drug Policy, moderated a discussion between attendees and two of the film’s subjects. The goal was to raise awareness about addiction and help de-stigmatize, humanize and better understand what people afflicted by addiction and their families experience.
This event was free and open to the public.
