Energy Infrastructure and Politics in South America

The “Energy Infrastructure and Politics in South America” map is an interactive mapping tool developed by Kenneth B. Medlock III and Miaomiao Rimmer at the Center for Energy Studies, with key geospatial development and implementation led by Bruno Sousa and Uilvim Franco at the Center for Research Computing. 

The map features key energy infrastructure, political, and demographic data for South American Countries, including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela. Users can toggle layers on and off and access detailed facility-level information via clickable tooltips. This interactive platform highlights the geospatial connection among energy, environment, policy, and society in South America. It is designed to foster discussion and research by providing a comprehensive, visually rich view of the region’s energy systems, demographics, and political landscape.
