Rice and ASU presidents to discuss institutions’ role in driving innovation in service to the nation
In an interconnected and rapidly changing world, how can American research universities best serve the public?
Rice University President Reginald DesRoches and Arizona State University President Michael Crow, two distinguished leaders in higher education and public service, will discuss the evolving role of U.S. research universities in driving innovation, equity, accessibility and affordability and more Feb. 24 at the Ion — Houston’s innovation hub powered by Rice. The event will include a livestream option with the recording available afterward.
Research universities are engines of innovation, economic growth and social mobility that educate millions while additionally driving scientific and technological discovery. These discoveries and innovations help sustain U.S. global competitiveness, demonstrating their vital role as a public good. Rice’s Office of Innovation believes every technological innovation, musical masterpiece, social enterprise or visionary endeavor deserves a clear and supported pathway to make a lasting impact.
This free and open-to-the-public event is co-sponsored by Rice Innovation and the Science and Technology Policy Program at Rice’s Baker Institute for Public Policy.
