On Nov. 6, Mexico Center director Tony Payan received the Distinguished Mexican Award from Mexico's government for his leadership and contributions in the United States.
Payan is among the 31 global recipients of the 2018 award. Other honorees, from scientists to artists, reside elsewhere in the U.S., and in Europe, Africa and Asia.
The Mexico Consulate in Houston presented a silver medallion and certificate to Payan at a ceremony at City Hall:
