What makes a successful leader? How do great leaders achieve success? James A. Baker, III, former U.S. secretary of state and the institute’s honorary chair, joined financier and philanthropist David Rubenstein for a conversation on leadership. They also explored Baker’s distinguished career in senior government positions under three U.S. presidents.

Rubenstein travels the country talking to leaders to uncover their stories and their paths to success. Each interview appears as an episode of “The David Rubenstein Show: Peer-to-Peer Conversations” on Bloomberg TV. The conversation with Secretary Baker aired on May 30.

Rubenstein has interviewed world leaders, including former presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, as well as business and cultural leaders such as Warren Buffett, Bill Gates and Yo-Yo Ma.

This event was part of the 25th anniversary commemorative programs featuring the centers and research of Rice University’s Baker Institute.
