Center for the Middle East: Student Research Showcase

The Center for the Middle East (CME) provides valuable, on- and off-campus research opportunities for students from Rice University and the Greater Houston area. CME fellows and scholars work directly with students through two key mentorship programs: Center for the Middle East Student Research Grants and the Urban Lab: Middle East program. At this showcase, students from both programs presented their field research, which was largely conducted in the Middle East with financial support from the Baker Institute. The students' 2015-16 projects covered a wide variety of topics, including sectarianism in Iran, Syrian refugees in Turkey, economic diversification in Dubai, and women’s fitness in Jordan. Each student designed a poster to highlight his or her findings, and guests were free to browse projects and discuss them with the undergraduate researchers.

This event was co-sponsored by the Baker Institute Center for the Middle East and Rice University's Department of Political Science.
