His Excellency Danny Danon is Israel’s ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations. He was appointed ambassador in October 2015 and previously has held senior positions in Israel’s cabinet and the Knesset (parliament). Danon has served as Israel’s deputy minister of defense and minister of science, technology and space. He was first elected to the Knesset in 2009 and subsequently served as its deputy speaker; chair of the Immigration, Absorption and Diaspora Affairs Committee; and chair of the Special Committee for the Rights of the Child. Danon completed his Israel Defense Forces service with the rank of lieutenant. He holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Florida International University and a master’s degree in public policy from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
