David Heyd, Chaim Perelman professor of philosophy at the Hebrew University, delivered a Nov. 30 lecture,"Toleration: Moral, Not Political" as part of the Ethics, Politics & Society (EPS) Lecture Series, co-sponsored by the Rice University Department of Philosophy. Heyd, a prominent moral and political philosopher who combines a broad humanistic sensibility with analytic skill, is the author of "Supererogation: Its Status in Ethical Theory" and the editor of "Toleration: An Elusive Virtue."
