Historian and Arabist Jean-Pierre Filiu, Ph.D, is an associate professor in the Paris School of International Affairs at Sciences Po. Previously, Filiu participated in humanitarian missions in Lebanon and Afghanistan, and served the French Foreign Service in Jordan, Syria and Tunisia. He also has served as an adviser to the minister of interior, the minister of defense and the prime minister. Now a full-time academic, Filiu has held visiting professorships at the Columbia School of International and Public Affairs and at the Georgetown School of Foreign Service. He recently published a new book titled "Arab Revolution: Ten Lessons From the Democratic Uprising."
