Research has suggested that the increased presence of women in politics would solve the corruption scandals that have long plagued Latin American democracies, yet such a link has not been revealed in practice. This issue brief argues that institutional changes, along with greater representation of women in politics, are needed to combat governmental corruption in Latin America.
