HOUSTON – (April 6, 2023) – CIA Director William Burns will discuss Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, China’s aggressive posturing, Iran’s nuclear enrichment and other pressing foreign policy issues April 11 at Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy.
Burns will also reflect on his extensive career in government and the importance of public service. He is the first career diplomat to serve as director of the CIA, holds the highest rank in the Foreign Service — career ambassador — and is only the second career diplomat to become deputy secretary of state.
