Baker Institute to host The Rockefeller Foundation president for discussion on climate change, renewable energy

HOUSTON – (March 6, 2023) – An upcoming event from Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy will examine how the key to fighting climate change lies in the developing world.

Rajiv Shah, president of The Rockefeller Foundation, will discuss the foundation’s global climate investments March 9. Following his remarks, he will join in conversation with Ken Medlock, senior director of the Baker Institute’s Center for Energy Studies, to discuss the opportunities and challenges for renewable energies to meet global demand. 

What: Addressing Climate Change in the Developing World: A Conversation with Rockefeller Foundation President Rajiv Shah.

When: Thursday, March 9, 4:30-6 p.m.

Where: Doré Commons in Rice’s Baker Hall. This event is free and will be shared on Zoom, but registration is required.

The event, co-presented by the Baker Institute and The Rockefeller Foundation, is part of the Baker Institute’s Director’s Lecture Series and will be livestreamed as part of the Rockefeller Foundation’s #RFBreakthrough series.

Created and endowed by former Baker Institute Director Edward Djerejian and his wife, Françoise Djerejian, the Director’s Lecture Series provides a forum for productive discourse to advance the public’s understanding of the most critical challenges facing Texas, the U.S. and the world.
