The U.S.-Iran Relations Program, led by Mohammad Ayatollahi Tabaar, Ph.D., offers timely, relevant analysis to policymakers on Iran’s foreign and domestic politics.
Iran’s increased regional footprint continues to be a major factor that drives political and economic trends in the Middle East. The U.S.-Iran relationship, perilous since the Iranian revolution in 1979, has more recently been marked by developments such as Iran’s nuclear program and the U.S. withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action in 2018, and Tehran's increasing influence in Iraq as well as its support of various political and militant groups such as Hezbollah and the Houthis throughout the region.
The program’s research and analysis aim to provide insights and recommendations for more effective U.S. policies toward Iran and the Persian Gulf.
