"It was definitely necessary, though it was later than many would have liked, especially for small businesses," said fellow Mark Jones of the $2 trillion economic stimulus bill passed by Congress. "It's going to take time to get those loans out to small businesses, as well as payments to individuals, but it should have a positive impact, at least in the short- to medium-term."

“This is very tough for government officials," said health policy fellow Peter Hotez. "I’m sorry to say we’re still in the early stages of this epidemic."

"With any luck, the price war will be called off before the world finds out which petrostate can withstand the most economic damage," wrote energy fellow Jim Krane.

Even a reduced service can ease “the sense of loneliness,” said Bill Martin, the institute’s senior fellow in religion and public policy. Streaming “reduces the sense of ‘this is a strange, strange time’” by reassuring worshipers.
