Congratulations to fellow Quianta Moore, who has been named the first Huffington Fellow in Child Health Policy. The Huffington Foundation gifted the Baker Institute $4 million to endow Moore and advance the institute’s Child Health Policy Program. 

A recent study led by fellow Quianta Moore found that societal inequities are also present in medical and mental health research, where they can become embedded and self-perpetuating.

Research shows that low-income families have not only been hit harder by the country’s economic collapse due to coronavirus, but also have largely been left out of federal relief packages. “You have women working in industries that are traditionally underpaid and undervalued,” said fellow Quianta Moore. “Because of the pandemic, society has placed this added value in their work but they’re not receiving a real increase in their wages.”
