Kevin Erickson, M.D., is a nonresident scholar in the Center for Health and Biosciences. He is an associate professor in the Section of Nephrology and an investigator at the Center for Innovations in Quality, Effectiveness and Safety at Baylor College of Medicine.
His research focuses on health economics, policy and outcomes in kidney disease. His research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, as well as private organizations. Recently, Erickson has studied the effects of nephrologist reimbursement policy, dialysis facility market competition and dialysis modality choices on health care costs, outcomes and access to care.
In addition to his research, Erickson is a practicing nephrologist at Baylor College of Medicine and a member of the American Society of Nephrology Quality Committee. After majoring in economics at Amherst College, he studied medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and trained in internal medicine at Emory University and nephrology at Stanford University.
