Biography
David Matias-Garcia is a graduate fellow at the Center for Energy Studies at Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Economics at Rice University and holds an M.Sc. in Economics from El Colegio de México and a B.Sc. in Economics from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).
Previously, Matias-Garcia worked as an economist in the Energy Division of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in Washington, D.C., and as a private-sector consultant, advising on energy, management, and financial projects. He also served as an intern at the Central Bank of Mexico and at the Research Center of the Senate of Mexico.
His research interests include electricity market design, renewable energy, industrial organization, and energy policy.
