Biography

Shannon Moriarty is the director of communications for the Baker Institute. She provides strategic direction on the institute’s communications operation and oversees its public affairs, editorial, and digital teams. 

Prior to joining the Baker Institute, Moriarty served as a deputy division director at The Council of State Governments Justice Center, overseeing its external affairs division. In this capacity, she advised on strategic communications initiatives for the U.S. Department of Justice across 50 states and in all three branches of government. Previously, she was the founding communications director at New York University’s Furman Center, a policy research organization focused on housing and urban issues. Moriarty also served as a managing editor at Change.org and a graduate policy researcher at the National Alliance to End Homelessness. 

Moriarty earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Bridgewater State University in Massachusetts and a Master of Arts in Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning from Tufts University.
