Will Vaccine Skepticism Threaten Texas' Herd Immunity?
The vaccination gap between whiter, more conservative Texas counties and the state average may not be cause for concern yet, said health economics fellow Vivian Ho, but there is potential for it to widen. "If, for instance, only 50% of people in outlier counties are vaccinated, they will continually be subject to superspreader events that will overwhelm the weakest components of the state’s health care infrastructure."

Breaking the Citizenship Taboo in the UAE
The United Arab Emirates' decision to extend citizenship to a select group of highly skilled expatriates comes as “competition for expatriate talent is heating up,” said energy fellow Jim Krane. The UAE’s citizenship initiative may represent an attempt to create “a class of educated citizen elites who can push the private sector to outperform those in neighboring countries." Krane is the Wallace S. Wilson Fellow for Energy Studies.
