Five years after Hurricane Harvey devastated Houston, fellow Ed Emmett reflected on his top 5 lessons learned from the impactful event and how taking "an interest in each other as individuals" is the key to defining the "Houston Way.”

Ed Emmett, Center for Energy Studies fellow in energy and transportation policy, discussed his experience with hurricane preparation and rebuilding, as well as engineering efforts to prevent future devastation from storms.

Former Harris County Judge Ed Emmett has been named a fellow in energy and transportation policy at the Baker Institute.  At the institute, Emmett, who managed the nation’s third-largest county for more than 11 years, will serve as the lead of the inaugural Houston Global Freight Summit. Emmett’s research will also focus on carbon-capture sequestration and hydrogen in the Gulf Coast region.
