Gov. Abbott's recent vetoing of over 70 bills may not have been as effective in pushing his priorities. "The governor went over the top,” fellow Mark P. Jones told Houston Press. “He crossed a line and did so in an unstructured, not strategic way."
Last week, Gov. Abbott vetoed more than 70 bills that were to be signed into law. Fellow Mark P. Jones told KPRC 2 that Abbott "waited until the special session to intervene on what he considered good property tax relief to be."
“Neither Phelan nor Abbott is going to be able to provide Texans with property tax relief without Lt. Gov. Patrick’s support, and the lieutenant governor is in a stronger position,” fellow Mark P. Jones said of the policy squabble within the Texas GOP.
