Hans-Dietrich Genscher: "A truly heroic statesman"
Remembering Hans-Dietrick Genscher
Nancy Reagan 1921–2016
James A. Baker, III, reflected on Mrs. Reagan's life and legacy at her funeral on March 11 in Simi Valley, California. His eulogy may be viewed here: http://abc7ne.ws/1SGPU3u.
Mr. Baker earlier released the following statement on the passing of the former First Lady:
"Nancy was one-half of the team that restored our nation’s pride and confidence in itself, and reinvigorated America’s leadership role in the world. She was her husband’s closest advisor, his constant protector and, most importantly, the love of his life. She was indispensable to his success. Theirs was an extraordinarily beautiful love story. America and the world are better places today because of Ronald and Nancy Reagan. Susan and I have the entire Reagan family in our hearts and prayers."
Former Secretary of State Baker served as the secretary of the treasury and chief of staff under President Reagan.

Secretary Baker on Combating ISIS
Former Secretary of State James A. Baker, III — the honorary chair of Rice University's Baker Institute for Public Policy — discussed President Obama's strategy to combat ISIS on the Sept. 14, 2014, broadcast of NBC's Meet the Press. In his 28th appearance on the program, Mr. Baker said the president's plan has “some problems … the biggest, of course, is who are ‘our partners on the ground’ the president referred to in his speech? You’ve got to have some people on the ground, you can’t do this just with air power … If they’re not going to be Americans, who are they going to be?”
