With the Jan. 20 presidential transition in Washington, D.C., the relationship between the U.S. and Mexico entered a new chapter. The administrations of both Joe Biden and Andrés Manuel López Obrador have prepared for the challenges ahead, understanding that a positive U.S.-Mexico relationship is vital for the well-being of both countries. Their economic, social and political ties run deep and have grown even stronger in the first 20 years of the 21st century. Recently, the two governments moved to renew their commercial relationship and established agreements to collaborate on immigration and search for a new cooperative security framework. While the coming years will not be easy, they present an important opportunity to reaffirm a partnership that remains strategic for both nations.

At this event, open to members of the U.S.-Mexico Forum and special guests, The Honorable Roberto Velasco, acting undersecretary for North America in the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs, discussed the opportunities and challenges that both nations will face in the next four years and how they can move toward a more cooperative future.
