Marc Sabbagh

Biography:

Marc Sabbagh is a senior at Rice University studying political science and history. His postgraduate plans are to pursue a career in international relations and diplomacy, with a focus on Middle East politics. He has worked as an intern in the office of Baker Institute founding director Edward P. Djerejian for three years. Sabbagh is also an eIntern for the Virtual Student Foreign Service program with the U.S. Department of State, working with the U.S. Embassy in Baku, Azerbaijan, to coordinate a virtual video guest lecture series focused on conflict resolution in U.S. history.

His current research interests include Middle East affairs, specifically Lebanese politics, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, democratization in the Middle East, and U.S. policy in the region. Sabbagh recently traveled to Lebanon, where his parents are originally from, for a summer study abroad program at the American University of Beirut. He has previously traveled to Cairo, Egypt, with the Baker Institute Public Diplomacy and Global Policymaking Program and has also visited several countries in Europe.

Sabbagh was born and raised in Houston, Texas, and speaks Arabic and French.
