The Baker Institute and Accenture will be presenting two studies on the major risks currently facing the global energy market. The Baker Institute study assesses the geopolitical risks currently facing the global financial system and the impact of energy security, supply and pricing on the global economy. This study on the global energy market examines a variety of scenarios for the future of global energy markets and evaluates such scenarios that could trigger renewed instability in energy markets.

The Accenture study draws on work with some of its major energy clients regarding what Accenture considers to be key current trends and how these will change and develop over the next few decades. Themes include the impact of great economic interdependence, climate change as a geopolitical issue, growing public and stakeholder awareness of energy issues, and the growing imbalance between producer and consumer nations.

Using these two studies as context, this event is designed to provide study researchers and authors the opportunity to hear the opinions of senior industry leaders on the current energy market situation and the policy challenges currently facing the energy industry. The focus will specifically be on financial market risk, geopolitical issues and the impact of greenhouse gas emission regulations. There will also be topical sessions, with special guest speakers, on the geopolitics of Russian energy and the challenge of oil and conflict, including discussion on the unique issues involving development of energy resources in Iraq and Iran.

This conference will bring together senior oil sector leaders from the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East, as well as academic and industry specialists.
