Djerejian discussed U.S. airstrikes against ISIS targets in recent interviews with the Wall Street Journal, Reuters and News 92-FM radio. "This is a major countertorrism strategy," Djerejian, former ambassador to Syria and to Israel, told the Wall Street Journal. The airstrikes were launched "with the hope of getting allies on the ground to follow up on the air strikes to consolidate whatever military gains are made ... These air strikes are necessary in order to stem ISIS' advances not only in Syria but certainly Iraq."
