Determining the future of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) must include a discussion of how it has affected major health outcomes, such as for patients with irreversible kidney failure. The authors explore these effects and note the growing evidence that Medicaid expansion is associated with reduced mortality among high-risk populations with chronic illness.
