Issues such as the Ebola outbreak have so dominated the U.S. public health agenda that genuine public health concerns are falling by the wayside. For example, the effects of neglected tropical diseases are being felt in Texas and throughout the Gulf Coast states, yet these conditions are being disproportionately ignored.
