CALL FOR PAPERS
We welcome submissions on a variety of health economics topics, including — but not limited to — the Affordable Care Act, controlling cost growth and provider incentives. Submissions from other areas of health economics are also welcome. The presentation format will be a short overview of the paper by the researcher and a presentation from a discussant, followed by audience discussion and feedback.
SUBMIT A PAPER FOR PRESENTATION
A panel of applied microeconomists will select 10 to 12 papers for presentation at AHEC, with a preference given to junior faculty; we also welcome submissions from doctoral students. Full papers are required in advance of the meeting. If you would like to present at AHEC, please submit a completed paper or an extended abstract (1 to 2 pages) by email toahec2014@rice.edu no later than 5:00 p.m. CDT on Monday, May 12, 2014.
SIGN UP AS A DISCUSSANT
If you would like to participate as a discussant, please indicate your interest by submitting your information by email toahec2014@rice.edu no later than 5:00 p.m. CDT on Monday, May 12, 2014.
LOGISTICS
The conference will run from 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16, to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17, 2014.
LOCATION
Conference activities will be held in the Doré Commons on the first floor of Baker Hall, located on the campus of Rice University. Click here for more information about visiting Rice University and the Baker Institute.
LODGING
AHEC follows a “you pay your way, we pay your stay” model. A grant from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality covers lodging, while participants are responsible for travel arrangements and costs to and from Houston.
Conference participants from out of town will be staying at the Hilton Houston Plaza/Medical Center, located at 6633 Travis St., a 10-minute walk from the Baker Institute.
Please visit the Hilton website to book your room. A credit card is required to register for the room but will only be used to cover incidentals. AHEC is covering the room fee and taxes for conference participants.
