Rachael Petersen, a junior at Rice University majoring in anthropology and policy studies with a minor in poverty, social justice and human capabilities, spent her summer participating in the Baker Institute"s Jesse Jones Leadership Center Summer in D.C. internship program. In a recent blog post, she reflects on her work with the Environmental Defense Fund and Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD), including a trip to Guyana. She and her colleagues tackled the monstrous issue of global climate change and developed solutions to stop deforestation and the devastating effects it has on indigenous people groups.
