Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy mourns the loss of Joseph D. Jamail, Jr.
“Joe Jamail was my friend and I will miss him,” said James A. Baker, III, the institute’s honorary chair. “He was one of the finest attorneys the world has ever known, a Texan who loved his state and his Texas Longhorns. Joe was a Houstonian in the league of Jesse Jones, Gus Wortham and my grandfather, Captain James Baker. Few have told truth as straightforward and with more force than Joe. And certainly no one has ever done so with as much vigor and color. Susan and I have his family in thoughts and prayers.”
The Honorable James A. Baker, III, and Joseph D. Jamail Jr., share a private moment after the dedication of the Lee and Joseph D. Jamail West Wing at the Baker Institute in January 2011.
