On Feb. 14, 2012, The Honorable James A. Baker, III, dropped by the Houston Chronicle for a brown-bag lunch discussion with the newspaper's staff. Speaking with a group of about 100 Chronicle editors, reporters and editorial writers, Baker shared stories of his years in politics and shared his concerns about contemporary political and economic issues facing the United States. He addressed a "growing dysfunction" in national politics and energy policy, but the former U.S. secretary of state said that his biggest concern was the $15 trillion federal debt.
