Viridiana Edwards is a nonresident scholar for the Drug Policy Program and a U.S. Army veteran whose research includes medical cannabis use among military veterans.

Edwards serves on a number of boards, including the Foundation for an Informed Texas, Texas NORML and the Veterans Action Council. She holds a master’s in sociology from the University of Texas at El Paso. Her paper on “The Battle Off the Battlefield" was presented at the Southwestern Sociological Association conference in Orlando, Florida, in 2018. Edwards is scheduled to graduate in May 2021 from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, with a master’s in medical cannabis science and therapeutics — the nation’s first such program.
