Monica M. Matsumoto

Contributing Expert for Science and Technology Policy


Monica Matsumoto graduated from Rice University in May 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in Asian studies and a minor in biochemistry and cell biology. She began working for Kirstin Matthews, fellow in science and technology policy, as an undergraduate intern in June 2011, primarily within the International Stem Cell Policy Program. Matsumoto also participated in the Public Diplomacy and Global Policymaking in the 21st Century Program’s student delegations every year from 2012 to 2014 and led as the student director in 2014. 

Matsumoto received a Fulbright scholarship to conduct research on cord blood banking and stem cell policy in Jordan for the 2014-2015 academic year. Since 2009, Matsumoto has spent time abroad studying Arabic in Jordan, Morocco and Egypt. She will attend University of Chicago’s Pritzker School of Medicine starting in fall 2015.
