Julie Fette, Ph.D., is a Baker Institute Rice faculty scholar and an associate professor of French studies at Rice University. Her research interests include xenophobia, immigration, gender, memory, public apology and interdisciplinarity. She authored the monograph “Exclusions: Practicing Prejudice in French Law and Medicine, 1920-1945” (Cornell University Press, 2012). Her current research focuses on gender in contemporary French and American children's literature. She teaches courses on modern French history, society and culture. Fette holds doctorates from the Institute of French Studies at New York University and the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris.
