His Excellency Ron Prosor became Israel"s 16th permanent representative to the United Nations in June 2011. With more than two decades of experience at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Prosor has carved out an international reputation as one of Israel"s most distinguished diplomats. Previously, Prosor served as Israel"s ambassador to the United Kingdom and the director general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, overseeing the work of the ministry during the disengagement from Gaza in 2005. His overseas service has also included roles in Washington, London and Bonn. As an officer in the Artillery Division of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Prosor attained the rank of major; he is also a graduate of the IDF battalion commanders. He holds a master"s degree in political science from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where he graduated with distinction.
