POSTPONED — Guyana: Opportunities and Challenges in the Energy Sector

THIS WEBINAR HAS BEEN POSTPONED. WE APOLOGIZE FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE.

After the successful exploration and initial development of significant offshore resources by an ExxonMobil-led consortium, Guyana is poised to become a major oil producer, with one of the world’s highest levels of production per capita. A new administration, elected in 2020 and led by President Mohamed Irfaan Ali, has the challenge of furthering the continued development of the oil sector and managing the significant wealth and opportunities that it would generate for Guyana, while at the same time avoiding the potential pitfalls of resource-led development.

At this webinar, the Honorable Mohabir Anil Nandlall, the attorney general and minister of legal affairs in Guyana, and the Honorable Vickram Outar Bharrat, Guyana’s minister of natural resources, will discuss the new government’s policies. Francisco Monaldi, the fellow in Latin American energy policy and the director of the Latin America Energy Program, will moderate the discussion.

This webinar is sponsored by the Baker Institute Center for Energy Studies. Follow @CES_Baker_Inst on Twitter, and join the conversation online with #BakerEnergy.
