Parenting young children, which can be complicated during the best of times, has become even more challenging as families deal with concerns and societal changes related to Covid-19. The behavior of caregivers, including protecting children from stressors due to natural disasters, is especially important during the critical period of early childhood and can meaningfully shape development.

In this webinar, Patrick S. Tennant, project manager focusing on children’s mental health at the Baker Institute Center for Health and Biosciences, and Marcy Melvin, the Director of Program Implementation for Child and Family Policy at Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute, presented a framework to help caregivers understand how their child processes Covid-19-related changes, identify signs of distress and anxiety in their children and learn how to respond in a healthy and developmentally appropriate manner.
