Candidates for Governor of Jalisco

Below are the preliminary results reported by INE as of July 2. The official results will be published on July 4. 




Enrique Alfaro - Movimiento Ciudadano

Enrique Alfaro is the governor-elect for Jalisco. He ran under the Movimiento Ciudadano party. He is currently mayor of Guadalajara. He was previously municipal president of Tlajomulco de Zúñiga from 2009 to 2012.




Below are the candidates whose registrations were approved by the corresponding state electoral institute.





Miguel Castro Reynoso

Miguel Castro Reynoso is the confirmed PRI candidate for governor of Jalisco. He is the former secretary of social development and integration for the state and former mayor of Tlaquepaque.


Juntos Haremos Historia



Carlos Lomelí

Carlos Lomelí is the Juntos Haremos Historia coalition gubernatorial candidate for the state of Jalisco. He is currently a deputy in the Mexican legislature and coordinator for the MORENA party in Jalisco.





Salvador Cosío

Salvador Cosío is running as the PVEM candidate for governor in Jalisco. He is the president of the political group Confío en México.





Miguel Ángel Martínez

Miguel Ángel Martínez is the official PAN gubernatorial candidate for Jalisco. He is currently a professor at Universidad Jesuita de Guadalajara (ITESO). Martínez is the former president of PAN Jalisco and former education secretary of Mexico. He received a law degree from ITESO.





Carlos Manuel Orozco

Carlos Manuel Orozco is the official PRD gubernatorial candidate for Jalisco. He is a founding member of the PRD, former rector of the University Center of the South Coast, and former leader of the University of Guadalajara’s Trade Union of Academic Workers.





Martha Rosa Araiza

Martha Rosa Araiza is the official New Alliance party gubernatorial candidate for Jalisco. She has been the party’s statewide electoral political executive coordinator and is a primary school teacher. Araiza received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education. She also studied nursing and agronomy.
