Sanna Ronkainen

Biography:

Sanna Ronkainen, a biochemistry and cell biology major from Annandale, Va., graduated from Rice University in 2008. She assisted in research on diabetes and Medicare policy at the American Diabetes Association in summer 2007. She presented the results of her research, “Increasing Coverage to Improve Diabetes Outcomes,” at the Baker Institute in September 2007. Ronkainen was recommended by Rachel Winer of the Department of Psychology at Rice and the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Baylor College of Medicine. In 2008 and 2009, she conducted field research in Asia and Africa on Type I diabetes education with a Thomas J. Watson Fellowship, and in fall 2009 began studies at Georgetown University School of Medicine.
