Laura Szarmach
Laura Szarmach, a history major from San Antonio, Texas, graduated from Rice University in 2007. In summer 2006, she interned with Iain Guest and Mendi Njonjo at the Advocacy Project, where she examined efforts to develop international networks of local nongovernmental organizations to alleviate poverty, as well as international and American efforts to combat human trafficking. She presented the results of her research, “Assessing the Comprehensiveness of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act,” at the Baker Institute in September 2006. Szarmach was recommended for the program by Thomas Haskell of the History Department at Rice. In 2008, she began studies at Cornell University Law School. |
